Marc Tessier-Lavigne is one of our co-founders and a member of our Board of Directors. Marc is currently President of Stanford University. Prior to his current role, Marc served as President of The Rockefeller University in New York City, where he was also Carson Family Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Brain Development and Repair. Marc has held faculty positions at the University of California, San Francisco, and Stanford University, before joining Genentech, where he served as Executive Vice President of Research and Chief Scientific Officer, overseeing the company’s disease research and drug discovery efforts. He is the recipient of numerous scientific awards, including being elected a member of the National Academy of Science and the National Academy of Medicine. Marc obtained undergraduate degrees from McGill University and Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and a Ph.D. in neurophysiology from University College London.
